Polishing for a top-of-the-range finish

One of UND's seven sites in Franois is a polishing workshop. This department, which currently employs 4 experienced polishers, 2 polishing assistants and a controller, specializes in the technical polishing of parts for high-end industry. We strive to maintain the quality of finish demanded by this market on a daily basis. UND has now structured its polishing activity to meet the widest possible demand. Take advantage of our know-how to polish your parts.

Small, top-of-the-range production runs

The UND polishing workshop relies on the knowledge and technical skills of 7 employees, whose know-how enables us to achieve the level of quality demanded by our customers. Here, we mainly polish small series for the leather goods, watchmaking and eyewear industries, as well as other sectors such as aeronautics and aerospace. Most parts are polished by hand. The result must be perfect, with no surface roughness, in line with the aesthetic criteria expected by our customers.
The UND polishing workshop is equipped with a range of machines adapted to polish bulk parts in larger series without compromising our quality standards.

OUR FINISHES

Several levels of finish

  • Traditional polishing

It is carried out manually by an experienced polisher. His expertise enables him to assess the level of finish on a piece destined for the luxury market.
  • Mirror polish

Mirror polishing requires a high degree of technical skill to achieve exceptional, mirror-like surface quality. This method is used to create smooth, shiny, reflective surfaces, free from bumps, scratches and other imperfections. The quality of mirror polishing is assessed visually to ensure that the surface achieves the desired level of reflectivity and gloss.
  • Honing for superior quality

This technical operation removes any residual micro-spots and, if necessary, adjusts the final dimensions of the part to a very precise tolerance. Depending on the part, we can carry out flat lapping to improve the flatness and finish of a surface, or cylindrical lapping to improve circularity, surface finish and the fit between moving parts, particularly cylinders and bores.
